CIFNET 2017 Application Form

The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (or CIFNET) it was earlier known as the Central Institute of Fisheries Operatives (CIFO), is actually a marine studies center located at Kochi, India. This institute is maintained by the Department of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry of the Government of India, the institute was set up to aid research and development in the field. CIFNET conducts an entrance exam ever year for admissions to courses like M.Tech/B.Tech students for fishery colleges (Vessel Navigator Courses(VNC) and Marine Fitter Course(MFC) and Bachelor of Fishery Science (B.F.Sc).

It is the only institute to offer a bachelor’s degree in both fisheries and nautical science. It has two other units in Visakhapatnam and Chennai. It is one of very few approved institutes by D.G. Shipping to conduct courses on RADAR plotting, GMDSS etc., but currently none of the short term courses are conducted.
The candidates are advised to read all the details about the course such as eligibility criteria and course duration etc., to form a better opinion about the course and make sure that they fit well within the eligibility criteria specified by the CIFNET and then, fill out the application form.

Eligibility Criteria CIFNET 2017

For Postgraduate Courses :
-The applicants/candidates must be in the possession of their bachelor’s degree under any recognized college or University with a minimum of 50% aggregate scores.

For Under Graduate Courses :
-The applicants/candidates must have passed 10+2 examination/equivalent examination/intermediate examination with a recognized board of education from Science Stream with a minimum of 50% aggregate scores.

For Doctoral Courses :
-The applicants/candidates must be in possession of their Master’s degree under any recognized board or university with a minimum of 50% of aggregate scores.

CIFNET 2017 Exam Pattern

For B.F.Sc. : The Common Entrance Test will be objective type which covers the topics of Maths, Physics, Chemistry,Biology and English. For each correct answer indicated, 1 mark will be awarded and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer indicated.

For VNC and MFC : The entrance exam will be of objective type and will cover different topics of Maths, Physics, Chemistry,Biology and English.
