ICAI CA 2017 Application Form

ICAI is Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. It is the national professional accounting body of India.
It was established under the chartered accountants act in 1949 which was enacted by Parliament.ICAI is the second largest professional accounting and financing body in the world in terms of membership.
ICAI is the only licensing cum regulatory body of the financial audit and accountancy profession in India.
It recommends that the accounting standards to be followed by all the companies in India.
Members of this institute are known as chartered accountants.

The Examination Department of the Institute of Chartered Accountants conducts the three different examinations with respect to different levels of accountancy course as per specified in the Chartered accountants regulations of 1988.

Different Examinations ICAI CA 2017

1)Common Proficiency Test(CPT): CPT covers four subjects which are fundamentals of accounting, mercantile laws, economics and quantitative aptitude.It is the first and the most basic exam in the field of accountancy and also quite an important one since it is necessary to qualify in this one in order to go further with accountancy.

Exam Pattern for CPT
Fundamentals of Accounting : 60 marks
Mercantile Laws : 40 marks
Economics & Quantitative Aptitude : 50 marks each.

Note:A person can register for CPT after completing Grade 10 and take the exam after completing High School (Grade 12).

Marking Scheme
-Every incorrect answer on the CPT exam carries a 0.25 negative mark.
-A candidate is considered to have cleared CPT if he/she obtains 30% in a sitting in each of the 4 sections and a 50.00% aggregate in the entire examination.

2)Integrated Professional Competence Course(IPCC):It is the second level of Chartered Accountancy examinations. A person is eligible to appear for the IPCC examination only after he/she has qualified the CPT exam and after qualifying CPT exam, it requires a study time for about nine months to prepare for this examination.
The subjects in this are divided in two groups.
Group 1 : Accounting,Business Laws,Ethics and communication. Cost Accounting and Financial Management.Taxation.
Group 2 : Advanced Accounting. Auditing and Assurance. Information Technology and Strategic Management.

Exam Pattern for IPCC
Each one of all the subjects is attributed about a 100 marks.

Qualifying Criteria
-A passing grade in IPCC is awarded if the candidate obtains 40% marks in each subject and an aggregate of 50% in the aggregate in each group.
-Benefit of set-off is also available if the candidate appears for both groups together and obtains 50% collectively in both groups, even if he fails to obtain an individual aggregate of 50% in the each group independently.

CA Final Examination:It is the last and final exam of accountancy which can only be given if the candidate has managed to qualify both the previous exams.
The subjects in this exam are also divided in two parts :
Group I: Financial Reporting. Strategic Financial Management. Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics.
Group II: Advanced Management Accounting. Direct Tax Laws. Indirect Tax Laws.

This exam is conducted in June and December of the respective year.
